I usually seek quiet, out-of-the-way Wilderness destinations, or visit popular places in the shoulder seasons. I think this best assures an experience in keeping with the original values of wild places: silence, freshness, wildlife, and solitude. Bodhran, my Border Collie mix, is a constant companion, but I also travel with capable and trusted friends.
