Took the directions from this page and did the hike. I was expecting it to be tougher than it actually was. The most difficult part was the ascent of Lost Beagle Trail, I took one break and a sip of water (and I'm relatively out of shape). If nothing else its a great nature hike, good for inexperienced hikers. Most of the other people on the trail were joggers.

I think the "million dollar view" is an ironic name. I did not find any such view, even when I crossed into Radar Park (there is an entrance at the top of lost beagle trail) and walked to a bench. Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough.

In all it took me about 1.5 hours to cover the whole thing. Fun hike and great forest scenery.

The description to take a left onto Beagle isn't correct. In fact, if you read the directions and look at the map by following the link, you cannot do what it tells you to.

Otherwise, there is plenty of good trails for trail running or taking the dogs for a stroll. The trails are well signed and in good condition, if a touch muddy. I found it overall to be rather blah, but still a good walk.

Don't forget to check out the clay pit at the end of the road. It was the most interesting thing I saw of the day.

A short walk with moderate elevation gain on a beautiful fall day. The trails were all in good shape and the 4 miles of trail took about 1.5 hours to cover. I saw several folks on the walk and one black bear near junction with the By Pass Trail on my return. A man with a dog pointed out the young bear and I avoided the area the bear retreated into.

The man said he had seen other bears in the area over the past few weeks so some caution is advised.

Old Cougar Mountain must have got hit pretty hard last weekend, most of the trails and especially Lost Beagle were pretty muddy. It was a nice little hike however, my first of the year. It was overcast most of the 3 hours I was up there, but didn't rain a drop. Lots of mud and some water over most of the trails but was no problem getting around with the new boots. Will be back soon to check out some of the trails I missed.

Another brief jaunt in Cougar Mt. Park, from the Sky Country Trail head up to AA Peak, via Coyote Creek Trail and Lost Beagle Trail and then down the AA Ridge Trail and By Pass Trails to the car.

Trip took about 1.5 hours to cover approximately 4 miles and 300 to 400 feet of elevation gain/loss. The trails were all in super shape, in part due to the frozen nature of much of the trail bed. While there were no grip problems, much of the trail bed was frozen below a light layer or dirt/mud which covered most of the trails.

The neat part was that the hike was above the inversion layer, with blue skies and sunshine.
