In the 1930s the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) took unemployed men out of America's cities and put them to work in the nation's forests. This jobs program helped get our country out of the Great Depression, as well as building some of the most impressive man-made features in our national parks and forests. The CCC Road isn't one of the program's most impressive accomplishments, but it is one of its lasting legacies. Originally built for logging in the Middle Fork Snoqualmie River valley, the road has become a primary recreational resource in this wonderland of the Middle Fork.
