This is a great getaway since the trailhead is just a couple minutes off I-90 and offers access to tremendous roaming options in the northernmost reaches of the Potholes Wildlife Area. In this northern section of the wildlife area, the Potholes Reservoir is mostly just small lagoonlike curves of shallow water surrounded by rich habitat for wildlife (thanks to the huge stands of trees around the waterways).
