I led a Saturday Snowshoe for the Cascadians today to the Swauk Meadows Trail XC 141 which begins at the Pipe Creek Sno-Park on Hwy 97. There is a kiosk at the Sno-Park with a very nice map of the Pipe Creek Sno-Park Non-Motorized Trail System to help you decide where to go. After a mile or so on XC 141 we turned off to the right on XC 141.2 and walked up this trail about a mile & a half to a large clearing where we stopped for lunch. There was an inch or so of new snow over an old track, which made for easy snowshoing. In the morning we had some blue sky with a pale sun interspersed with snow showers. After lunch the sky darkened and it began to snow a little harder, so we headed back. The route is mostly in the trees, but does pass a few nice clearings. We saw only one other party of 3 skiers the whole day.
