The NOAA weather report looked good so I went out to "shoot" some Fall colors.
Visibility was great with views north to Three Fingers and Liberty mountains. The trailhead parking area work appears to be done except for the demolition and removal of the old restroom.
Snow patches started about 2000' and the trail is easy to follow to the lake, with only about 2 inches snow depth at the lake. I didn't plan on circumnavigating the lake but the trail was inviting so I continued around the lake. In the SW corner of the basin I encountered a medium sized black bear who was going up-hill quickly, away from me, so I continued my normal pace around the lake, taking pictures as I went.
No one else was up there in the morning but on the way down I passed 7 people and 2 dogs coming up in the afternoon.
There are some mud holes and streams flowing over some areas on the lower trail.
The wet rocks and board-walks are slippery so good boots and poles help with stability.
