We were looking for a moderate hike to shake off some of that Thanksgiving food. The day was gray and drizzly and we arrived to an empty parking lot. The trail is in great shape less some water running down and across the trail. The bare branches, moss and foggy mist gave a new look to this normally green hike. Another benefit: no bugs! We arrived at the lake to find it almost completely frozen. Trace amounts of snow and ice were on the board walk, but otherwise it was easy going. We left the lake around 11AM and just started seeing other hikers on our way down (about 20 total)
This is a great hike if you have waterproof boots. I don’t think I’d try it with high avalanche danger as the trail crosses a large chute several times.
