The Mount Pilchuck Road is once again closed for the winter at the Heather Lake Gate. For the last week the MBSNF has received quite alot of snow. The road is covered with snow and ice. The USFS does not plow this road during the winter. The Snohomish County Road Department plows the new Pilchuck Bypass Road
up from the Mountain Loop Highway for 1/10 of a mile to where the Old Pilchuck Rd meets the bypass. Park here...the road is plowed between this point up another 4/10ths of a mile by the local residents on the road for the purpose of accessing their homes only. The road is blocked by snow 1/2 mile from the Mountain Loop Hwy. All state laws apply in the MBSNF,and any vehicles left unattended and parked in the roadway are subject to ticketing for the same per RCW 46.61.590. Any vehicle(s) deemed to parked in a hazardous manner, blocking driveways,or travel in and out on the road is subject to impound. Please use common sense here, and don't try rationalize why the laws don't apply to your situation as many have in the past. NO FORREST PASS REQUIRED TO PARK HERE IN THE WINTER (not a formal trailhead). There is NO WINTER PLAY AREA HERE!!! Looking for a place for the kids to sled? Try the Deer Creek Road on the left/north side of the Mountain Loop Highway at mile post 23.0...11 miles east of the Blue Bridge at the Pilchuck Mountain Road at mile post 12.
