Why You Should Go Now
  • Wildflowers blooming
Be Aware Of
  • Blowdowns
  • Snow on trail
The trail is beautifully maintained. We hiked a 13 mile loop via Wallace Falls, Wallace Lake, Jay Lake and the Greg Ball trail (North Fork Wallace River) and didn't encounter any blowdown/beaver felled trees until we got to Wallace Lake. We rain into a couple feet of slushy snow on the way to Jay Lake. We postholed our way up but didn't even try to make it to Shaw Lake.
The state legislature is considering a budget that would close Wallace Falls State Park to save $181,000 a year in staff and maintenance costs. Please write, email or call your representatives and ask them to keep the wonderful, accessible park open.
