Snow on trail
Dawn and I parked just shy of the Lake Lillian/Mt. Margaret TH due to patchy snow. Snow solid from TH to the Mt. Margaret ridge and both Twin Lake and Lake Lillian were snowbound. Snow varied from soft and hollow to firm to crusty. We carried snow shoes but did not use them. Ice axes were useful on the many steep portions to the lakes. Lots of the usual spring obstacles: deep tree wells, buried logs and rocks surrounded by melt out, etc. Navigated by map and compass. Nine hours round trip with lots of breaks. Saw two other sets of foot prints but no one else on this gorgeous sunny day.
