- Why You Should Go Now
- Wildflowers blooming
We drove out I-90 to exit 45 then headed North under the freeway. Keep left at the forks until you come to the trail head. The road was washed out in a few areas today. Cars had stopped off at different areas but we continued up to the third washout and parked there. It was a 330 yard walk into the trail head from there.
The trail began on a nice surface and goes into a low rock and root trail with very little trip hazard where we hiked along for about 40 minutes. Then it gets steeper for a further 45 minutes until we arrived at the junction for going up to Bandera Mountain or going down to Mason Lake.
We go up the hill which is like a stair climb all the way up for about 20 minutes.
Then we walk through a small treed shaded area and scramble up along a rocky ridge for like twenty minutes more to the summit.
It took us 2 hours and 2 minutes to come up the 3.8 miles to the top. The views were great going up along the way and at the top.
A lunch with a view.
Then we start our descent. There were thunder clouds coming in as we were going down.
We beat the rain and it took us 1 hour and 42 minutes to get down.
This was a great hike. Flowers blooming along the way and not too difficult.
