- Why You Should Go Now
- Wildflowers blooming
Did a climb of the south summit of The Brothers this past weekend. Trail up to Lena Lake is fine (although I wish there was more grade to those switchbacks - especially coming back out). Trail up from Lena Lakes to Lena Forks through the Valley of the Silent Men is snow-free and in about as good of shape as you could expect. Above the camping area at the forks, the climber's trail is nicely flagged, well trodded, and carin-marked in streambeds up through the avalanche area and meadows into the base of The Brothers massive. Big surprise, however, is that there is almost no snow whatsoever on the Brothers - only a few little fingers of snow in the couloirs and this should be gone shortly (or too dangerous with flowing streams underneath). Climbing trail up the Brothers in good shape given all the talus, ledges and the like - sure wish had some snow on the way down to do those nice glissades. The wildflowers are out in many places and totally enjoyable hike/climb.
