Road to trailhead is a bit rough once you make the final turn off to it, but ok to drive with good clearance. (There's a big parking lot right at the turn off that doesn't travel the rough parts.) Arrvied at trailhead a bit late (10:30 am) after initially trying to find the trailhead to Thomas Mt. with no luck.

That's ok as the views and hike up Davis was quite enjoyable. Great views, lots of switchbacks, hot, some shade but mainly hiked in sun. Nice breeze on top to help cool you down. Snow patches linger at the top of the ridge burn so you need to keep your eyes peeled for the drop off the other side and climb back out of the trees.

Saw only 2 other hikers at the top and just two other parties down lower. Just a few flies biting but no mosquitoes. Absolutely no water. Go now before it gets much hotter or come back in the Fall. 4 hours to the top and less than 2 hours return. 11 miles/3,900' gain.
