Nice little hike in the packwood area. Guidebook says 1.5 miles in and 800 feet, and it felt like slightly more mileage to us, like nearly 2 miles. The trail is pretty and shaded and seems well maintained. There is a nice little campsite right at the trailhead.
we took our two kids ages 6.5 and 2.5 (he gets carried most of the way). Good kid hike on a hot day since it's shaded and ends at a lake.
Bluff Lake is pretty and wooded, with a camp or two. We hung out on one on a little cliff near the side of the lake where the trail begins to continue on uphill. The water access here is precarious at best. saw lots of small trout. no/few bugs!
