We hit the trail at 8:00am. There were a few cars in the parking lot but we were the only ones on the trail. Nice hike, steady elevation to the top (nice workout). Lake was lovely. We forgot the insect repellent in the car and I was eaten alive at the lake - so remember your bug spray!
On the way down the trail was packed with hikers coming in. I recommend hitting the trail no later than 8:30 on a Saturday morning if you want to enjoy the hike and the lake in peace.
Trail conditions were great. We did the side 3/4 mile walk on the nature trail on our way out. It was a nice little side trek. Probably great for those with small kids. There is an outhouse at the trailhead and the parking lot is large and can easily accomodate many cars.
All in all a nice morning hike.
