Despite the fact that we never saw more than a glimpse of the Easton glacier on Mt. Baker and none of the mountain itself, this was a terrific hike. One of the best loop hikes easily accessible from Seattle. It was cool with very low clouds, but the flowers were terrific - more red monkeyflower than I ever seen. Lots of lupine, valerian, partridgefoot, arnica etc.
The bugs are gone, and unlike the hordes going up Railroad Grade to summit Mt. Baker, very few feet are treading the Scott Paul trail. We did it clockwise, so that we went up rather than down Park Butte. This is highly recommended for the knees.
Lots of birds, marmots and pikas. A terrific hike on an overcast day. Oh, and I should mention that the blueberries are ripe.
