A non-holiday Monday open for a hike.
What a bonus. Second car at the trailhead, just me and the mosquitos.
Ranger report from a couple days earlier says flowers on the wane and bear poo spotted on the trail. Only a few minor trees in the trail.
Fireweed and thistles on the lower trail, Pentstemmon and paintbrush as you get higher.
Limited views from the trail.
I misunderstood, to get views you must bushwhack up Mt Sawyer.
Not something a solo hiker can wisely do.
So I just enjoyed the lovely meadows and the solitude.

Mt. Sawyer

I soloed this Aug. 21, 2005 at age 68 with no problems and consider this relatively east summit path to be very obvious and easy to follow and with great views at top, although no one single 360 degree view, with views in various directions obtained at different spots past clumps of trees. There is even a 1937 US Geological Survey triangulation station marker as well as a close by US Geological Survey 5495 feet datum bench marker at the top. My only problem was stopping too often for the ripe bluberries near the start of the summit path. Some of the blueberries had fresh bear saliva on them, but no bears were in sight at the time.
