- Ripe berries
- Be Aware Of
- Overgrown
- Snow on trail
The trail to Independence Lake / North Lake was in great condition. Starting temperature was 35 degrees with some frost and ice crystals on the trail. The fall colors where showing as expected. The trail at the end of Independence Lake was over grown and swampy but manageable. Most of the over growth was pressed down from the snow of previous week.
The trail going to North Lake starts at the end of Independence Lake and heads back down the lake on other side. Once on the trail it starts going up (real steep) with many switchbacks. This portion of trail has more over growth than the first 0.7 miles. Once you reach the pass, the trail goes down to North Lake. At around 4,700 feet on this part of the trail was snow and ice, but trail was obvious.
Had a great view from the top over looking North Lake, Glacier Peak and other surrounding peaks.
