Mount Index towers over Lake Serene
The trail is relatively dry right now, yet Bridal Veil Falls is running high, so it's a good time to take this trail. FYI, you don't have to go up the Bridal Veil Falls trail to see them - it, and also the lower falls, are easily seen from the Lake Serene Trail.

There's some hard and very slippery ice near the lake, so traction devices are recommended. Or, lacking these, you can do as I did this day: throw trail sand on the ice in front of you before walking across.

On a clear day (as this one was) you can see not only nearby Baring Mountain, but the Monte Cristo massif as well (look NNE from near the lake).
