This trail report is VERY IMPORTANT so please read carefully. I hiked this way trail twice before so I knew the rugged conditions (3400' in 2 mi) that lay ahead but what I found astonished me. Note that the Lake Constance "trail" was within the epicenter of the Constance Fire during Summer 2009, and, as a result, the trail is now basically gone. Scouted trail for conditions finding extremely difficult if not impossible to follow. Tried for about 1/3 mile then gave up. Many, many burned trees and snags down over entire hillside and all ground cover has burned away. Faint trail that used to be present either no longer exists or is barely visibly. Would advise visitors NOT to hike trail. If someone just has to hike trail then they should have hiked it before because they’ll need their memories and orienteering skills.
