Headup the Heather Lake Trail at 0730. There were about six cars in the parking lot already. This trail is a good trail to hike when the weather is hot as most of it is shaded by large old growth. I will say though that this trail does not run along side any major creek. You cross over some very small ones with little to no water. The main creek that empties out of Heather Lake is quite a distance off the trail. You can hike to it but be careful as some areas are quite steep. It took us about 1 1/4 hour to get to the top with lots of stops. Very few views on the way up. The lake is real similar in size and shape to Lake Twenty-Two with similar views of Mt Pilchuck Mountain Range in the back ground. There were several good waterfalls behind the lake that you could hike to but be careful as the rock is loose in places. The benefit of it is that you can get better pictures of the whole lake from up by the falls. It is still worth the hike and you could combine this hike with Boardman and Evan Lake on the same day. Enjoy!!
