The road is closed 5 miles up to Galena Rd Which does not lead to Blanca Lake drive farther West.

Hi there,
I just hiked to this Lake yesterday (9/4/10) with friends. Stop by the ranger station in Skykomish and they will give you alternative directions to the trailhead.
You can get there by taking Beckler River Campground Road.I hope this helps! This was one of the most beautiful Lakes I have ever been to! Enjoy!

Glad to know there's an alternative route. Would hate for such a gorgous place to be out of reach for what will probably be a while. I went up there about a month ago, an incredible place.

Yo dolphinecho i think you were lost. The photo you posted is clearly of the wash out on Index Galena road that happened in 2003. It is located 5 miles from the town of Index...not Skykomish. Blaca lake IS still accessable form Beckler river road just out side of Skykomish.

I must concure you guys are way lost. You were on the northfork skykomish river road not the beckler river road. The beckler road is 15 miles further east past skykomish town not index town.
