We started the hike at 10:45 am and the weather was cool with some drizzle at the trailhead next to I-90. We headed onto the trail without much for rain gear (regrets later). When we were in the forest, the rain picked up some, and we were getting colder and colder! When we were up where you can see Red Mountain, it began snowing, but nothing that stayed long on the ground. Once we got the katwalk, we were very cold (about 1:30 pm)! We managed to get across it and back, but didn't stay long because clouds were blocking the view and our fingers were numb. The weather started to warm up and clear up once we got back down to the forest and the rest of the journey from there was significantly more comfortable. To note though, the path did get very muddy after the rain. We arrived back down at the trailhead at 4:20 pm. We highly recommend gloves, hats, and sweaters (and rain gear if there's even the slightest chance of rain)!
