It was a hiker's dream... A four-day pass to the Enchantments with absolutely perfect weather! My buddy and I hiked to Colchuck, climbed Aasgard Pass, and hiked through the wonderland down to the Snow Lakes trailhead. The larch were at their peak color, the mountain goats were inquisitive, the other hikers were quite friendly, and we did not experience a single problem or inconvenience the entire time. There weren't even any bugs to bother us. I can't wait to return and explore more of this magical place.

The larch are strikingly beautiful.
Perfection Lake is aptly named.

Does anyone know what causes the massive horizontal discharge from Lower Snow Lake?

I know that both snow lakes are used by Leavenworth and the salmon hatchery to control the flow of Snow Creek... I would assume it blasts out like that at times of year when they need a higher flow rate and open the nozzle, like a dam's flood gate.

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
