we started at 1030 with overcast skies, and sprinkling. as the trail cuts back and forth upwards toward the lake the trail could be fairly rocky at times but for the most part was pretty maintained. several times the trail crossed watersheds from winter snow melting and for a brief second you even pass by a pretty awesome little waterfall.

the last 1/3rd of the hike is covered in snow but i managed the trail in regular old shoes and didnt even get my toes wet. its well worth the walk because soon enough you suddenly emerge from the trees and you're staring at a magnificent lake still half covered in snow! the best part is, the sun broke as we were getting there. so we got to eat lunch in the warmth of the sun before heading out.

All in all it was a great hike and turned out to be a beautiful day as well. i hope to go back once the snow is gone and actually walk all the way around the lake. there is still too much snow.
