A previous hiker posted a good description of the trail so I thought I would just add a few comments and pictures. We got to the trailhead about 9am and got to the lake at 10 without taking a break. The streams are running full but crossing them posed no problem. The snow is not bad, fairly well packed so we never postholed, and only around the lake itself. Sections of the boardwalk are clear, and we didn't observe any avalanches in the hour we spent at the lake. When you hike around the lake the backside still has a large snowfield, but you can scramble around the bare rocks at the lake edge if you want. Also on the backside we saw a mother duck with about 7 chicks out on the rock. The lake was very clear with excellent reflections. We saw several other groups of people, including some smaller kids which seemed to handling the snow just fine.
