- Snow on trail
Destination: Rather than the Lakes, we attained the south end of the north-south ridge (~5050 ft) immediately south of the highest of the three lakes.
Weather: A little of everything: fog, sun, overcast, light snow, etc.; no rain though.
Avalanche conditions: there was a tad of a tendency for the snow to produce soft slabs about 5" deep.
Snow conditions: Perhaps 5" of semi-fresh snow over a soft crust.
Equipment: floatation required; traction not needed; we had and used trekking poles; we had no ice axes which would have been desirable for proceeding farther north on the ridge we achieved.
Companions: Ish and Amy.
Time: 5:30 hrs, car to car.
