Be Aware Of
Snow on trail
Trail was busy but not too crowded for a nice Sunday hike. Trail wasn't too muddy below snow-line (~3400ft), but it hadn't rained for a couple days. Packed ice on the trail at snow-line is slick before the snow starts getting deeper. Enough foot-holes through the snow that traction devices aren't required but will still help (I wore Salomon trail running shoes...no problems). Most had cramp-ons, ice axes, etc. As others have reported, still too much snow to see the mailbox, but more importantly, still corniced at the top, so watch out for that. Request: please do not glissade down the main path...ruins path for those still on their way up (glissade off to the side). 3.5 hours round trip
