This past week I had the pleasure of going on a Volunteer Vacation with WTA to sunny (sometimes) Lake Chelan. Our crew worked to clear the Lakeshore trail of downed trees, brush, added an outside log where the trail was narrow and precipitous and cleaned out drainage from Moore point to the NRA boundary. There are still a few trees blocking going to the south towards Prince but another WTA crew is out there as I write this, clearing trail and improving tread. There is a big washout at Meadow Creek causing some challenges to through hike the trail but is scheduled to be addressed by another crew going in to Cascade Creek in May. The flowers are just starting in the northern section and much more prolific as you go south. Also the morels are peeking their little (and sometimes enormous) brown wrinkly heads out of the meadows and a savy hiker can gather a nice addition to their meal along the way.
