From the very top of Poo Poo Point...view of Lake Sammamish with the take-off turf in the foreground.
Hiked this for the first time on a warm, sunny Spring day. Lots and lots of 'up' on this trail (of course) but it is definitely do-able by a reasonably fit person. Mostly dry with lots of trees budding or nearly budding and many white lily-like flowers along the path.
Plenty of room in the parking lot at 10:00 a.m. Met many people along the trail (often with leashed, happy dogs) but the trail wasn't crowded on a weekday (Monday). A handful of paragliders were packing their gear up to the summit when we were headed back down. Beautiful view from the top! When we returned to the parking lot the lot appeared full @ 1:30 pm.
Helpful hints: on a warm day bring plenty of water--it was about 70 degrees yesterday and I drank a lot of water on the way up on several of my 'rest' stops, trekking poles definitely helped (especially for the descent...it was steep in areas and my hiking buddy slipped/fell/rolled down one section of the trail!).
Out-of-condition hikers: This is do-able. I used to be an avid 5-10 mile day-hiker until about 10 yrs ago (before kids!!) but hadn't done a hike of this intensity/elev gain in many years. Still do-able as long as you take your time. Definitely worth the effort for the views at the top. Will be a repeat hike for sure!! :-)
