Hike: Rampart Ridge
Region: Mt. Rainier -- SE - Longmire / Paradise
Avg Rating: 2.60
Eagle Peak from Rampart Ridge
The ridge top is still capped full length in snow but is mostly navigable without traction. One section down the rock slide is pocked with hip-deep postholes, but the rest of the trail is in great shape and spongy with hemlock and cedar duff.

On a tip from a fellow hiker, we also took time to marvel at the truly gigantic trees on the Twin Firs loop trail a few miles down the road, then stopped for a delicious Nepali lunch at the Wild Berry - courtesy of the Dawa Sherpa family.

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
