- Wildflowers blooming
This evening, I paid a quick after-work visit to Carkeek to catch the sunset and experience a touch of elevation gain. Children were playing on the beach, young adults were playing frisbee on the fields, and the sun was setting over the Olympics as I arrived. Spring greenery is taking hold, and flowers are blooming. The best spot for taking pictures seemed to be the bridge over the railroad tracks. I also ascended the South Bluff trail to assess the views, but they were not as open. I had no intention of slugging it out on this hike, but I met an old friend on the stairs to the parking lot and just HAD to take a picture.
