Region: Central Cascades -- Leavenworth Area
Avg Rating: 5.00
Why You Should Go Now
Wildflowers blooming
Road
First car to park at the gated road at 10am. Followed the road up a mile or so, then headed west on an old logging road. Explored the area (parts of which were burned in a wildfire last year) on increasingly overgrown logging roads until we found a nice lunch spot above Hwy 2.

Wildflowers: Lots of Balsamroot, Glacier Lilies, Trillium and Oregon Anemones; some Lupine and Paintbrush.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
