We absolutely loved this trail. As mentioned in the description the ascend is quite steep. This is probably the most steep trail we've done till now. Fortunately the distance is not a lot so by the time you start asking "are we there yet?", you actually reach the top! The view from the top is simple awesome! It is so gorgeous! You can see the lake below and all the trees. The descend is quite easy and after all the rigorous muscle-work going up we were really thankful for the downhill slope. We spent some time at the Rattelsnake lake too - it was so serene!

Highly recommend this hike!

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
