It was a gorgeous sunny day and perfect for a hike up to the falls and beyond. I started at the trail head for the Palisades trail and a little farther up you come across the trail from Camp Shepherd. The hike to the falls has minor obstacles and one stream crossing does require a little care. The falls were spectacular! I then continued up-trail and encountered the many switchbacks up towards the first lookout over the cliffs. That was one impressive view of the White River valley. I continued on up to the 2nd lookout and that was even more impressive. I met another hiker there that stated there was still quite a bit of snow on the trail up ahead. I walked to where the snow was deeper than what I was prepared for and turned around. All in all, a great hike that had spectacular scenery which is making up for my poor out of shape calves.
