This was my first and last time hiking this trail. The hike itself was not bad, but was rather boring and uneventful. The first quarter mile or so was really pretty through the woods. After finishing this hike, I came back to a car with smashed windows and a broken mirror. Nothing was taken, but still an pain in the butt to get taken care of.

SCUMBAG DEGENERATES

Posted by panzerkauf at Jun 08, 2012 11:32 AM
Really sad to hear about the recent rash of vehicle break- ins. Granite Falls is notorious for meth heads and its manufacturing of meth. Hate to think what I'd do if I caught one of these degenerate scumbags doing this to ANY vehicle during an outing. Pack heat when out hiking and don't be afraid to use it. Don't depend on the useless law enforcement in The State of Washington. Be vigilant people or suffer. Not trying to scare anyone out of a great hiking adventure but there are a lot of scummy people out there.

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
