We left Snohomish at 12:30, temp was around 57 degrees. No rain just a cool crisp afternoon. No traffic or other vehicles present until we actually arrived at parking area at trail head. Trails were a bit wet/muddy but very walkable. Trace amounts of snow present along trail. The lake was Beautiful. Water still cold, with ice still on majority of lake. I can't wait for further in Summer to visit again. Great hike for families.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
