Very nice day for a moderate hike... a bit of rain but tree cover was enough that we didn't get soaked. Parking lot dry and no pot holes. Multiple small "waterfalls"/"streams" that flow across trail but they don't cause holes or too much mud. Beautiful old growth forest and plenty of beautiful photo opportunities. A bit steep in some places towards the mid point of hike but the lake is worth the trip. About .2 miles from the lake we encountered a snow covered trail.

We got a teeny bit lost when we tried to take a "short cut" by following what we thought were the freshest footprints but we doubled back and followed the dog prints as we had just passed a family with a dog and knew they made it to the lake. Be careful of footing in some spaces but in general the snow was very packed and easy to walk through... WEAR SOCKS &/OR BOOTS!

View of Heather Lake was spectacular, water was crystal clear where it flowed to Heather Creek, 1/3 of lake covered in snow still, but nearly 8 waterfalls cascaded down from the mountain above... AMAZING hike, well worth the moderate trek up.
