Great trail!
Great time of year for this hike: no bugs, roaring river and beautiful forest canopy. Trailhead is easy to find. Trail parking lot is right across the road from Douglas Fir Campground.

At the bottom of the stairs, go left to walk the trail. Right takes you under the highway and into the campground.

Some muddy spots, but the trail is well maintained. Great hike for kids!

On our way to Horseshoe Bend, we stopped at Silver Lake Park at Maple Falls. What a wonderful park, can't wait to go back and walk the trails! After our hike, we drove out Mt Baker Highway...we've lived here our entire lives and neither my husband nor I had ever been to Mt Baker! We drove all the way out to Heather Meadows (just drive until you reach the ski area...and keep going)! We saw beautiful views of Mt Shuksan and had a great family adventure driving up that road! We wanted to stop at Nooksack Falls, but the road isn't well marked. From the main highway, you turn off onto a gravel road, that is it. We'll do that next time.

Excellent hike for us!

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
