Snow on trail
Road to the trail head is clear. I took the snow rout on the way up and managed to find the trail on the way down. I made the hike without crampons and trekking poles. It was the first time I have been up there and I found it fairly easy to find my way. There are a lot of trails to follow, so just follow the one with the most tracks.

Was it a zoo up there? I have been avoiding doing this one for that reason.

Probably won't be too bad if you can go during the week......but after the Fourth. I didn't encounter too many people, but I usually start my hikes early. Most of the groups were coming up as I was leaving. I never have been up there before, but I'm sure it is busy later on due to easy trail access.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
