Be Aware Of
Mudholes
Water on trail
Snow on trail
Snow starts at trail head and is on / off for first couple miles, however by the time you reach the lake its all snow and lots of it with the lake frozen over. Snow is very crusted and even at 220 lbs. + pack i only broke threw when melted by water running under it. 2 Differnt cougar tracks walking together one much bigger then the other.
One larger water crossing with log accross it for easy passing however it is a bit slick.
GPS was used to find trail without it would have been all guess work.
Rained most of trip but was still better then being in town :)
Ps. lots of devils club

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
