The weather was cloudy but the parking lot was full (!!) today @ 12:15 PM. Lots of hikers and dogs (a few without leash) were there on the trail. The falls are beautiful!! and the mist flowing onto you is a great experience. Went to the lake too but it was fully covered by clouds and visibility was very low.
Mt Index was not visible but the lunch rock is a nice place to relax and as appropriately named, to enjoy your lunch. The sky cleared a little around 4 PM but no luck seeing Mt Index. It would have been a really great hike if the visibility was good but the hike was still worth the sweat with beautiful water falls along the way.
Few kids dropped (accidentally) a soda can into the lake :( and then someone forgot their plastic water bottle somewhere on the trail.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
