Little Wenctchee Gorge
A good short trail for those who don't like a crowd. A long drive in for a short hike, but if camped at Lake Wenatchee, a nice little hike. A soft, wet mist was falling, good atmosphere for a river hike. It's a steep rocky drop into the gorge so keep a close eye on kids and dogs. The trail follows the river high above for about a mile or so. We turned around just before the end, the map showed it just hitting the road and we didn't want a road walk. Lake Creek campground, where the trailhead is, had only one car.

No Need For A Road Walk

Lake Creek is one of my family and friends favorite campgrounds. We have camped there multiple times in the last decade. The pools on the river can be fished and during the summer you can swim if you want to brave the cold, clear water. If you don't want to walk the road back to the car you can follow a spur trail that goes off to the right at the top of the rocky hill. This offers some good views of the valley and take you right back to the campground via a forest walk.

That must be where we turned around and went back. I remember the spur trail.

Muledeer is NOT Dave Fredrick, something must be still messed up with the log in again. Muledeer.

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
