Like the other recent trip reports say the trail is in great shape (thanks WTA!), a little bit of water on it in some places, but easy to travel. The hike is close to major cities, an easy 2 hour roundtrip from the trailhead (at a moderate pace). If you're like me planning to take photos then add an extra hour or so.

I'm planning to bring my kids back here, ages 7 and 2, though the 2 year old will be spending much of the hike on my back. The falls were really flowing strong today, as was the river - it's a spectacular hike.

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
