Wildflowers blooming
Be Aware Of
Blowdowns
Overgrown
Bugs
The road to the trailhead (roughly 8.5 miles) was rough but driveable. It improved further up. The road ends at the TH. The trail definitely needs some maintenance, it is brushy and overgrown but was hikeable - even with a four year old! There were blow-downs but nothing obstructing the trail. It was a bit buggy with horse flies and mosquitoes but nothing we even needed bug repellent against. A note to those with allergies - there were quite a few bees buzzing around a dead tree at roughly 3/4 mile.

On a positive note, there were many alpine lilies in bloom and some bear grass in bloom as well, with rhododendrons blooming along the road to the TH. Beautiful views!

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
