I was on the trail at 7:45 AM, but there was a hiker from Anacortes about 20 minutes ahead of me. The trailhead road is in good condition. The trail varies from smooth to rough to wet to snow-covered.

There are many creeks to cross and some of them pose some interesting problems. I met the hiker from Anacortes coming down the trail at mile 2.75. He said there was an unsafe snow bridge at 4,200'. I continued to the snow bridge, agreed with his assessment, and headed back to the trailhead.

The hike was 6.4 miles through the beautiful valley. There are so more waterfalls than one can imagine. Wildflowers are blooming, but the main show has yet to take place. Annoying bugs were scare today. The weather was perfect. Give this trail about a week or two and the Pass should be accessible.

I met one other hiker heading up. He asked for directions from the Pass. I noticed that he was wearing athletic shoes, so I tried to discourage him from crossing sloping snowfields and snow bridges. I hope that he made good decisions and avoided an unpleasant experience.

Oh, there is some serious avalanche damage along the way, but the trail has been cleared.

Bypassing the Snowbridge

I tried climbing to the upper fall in the picture to cross there, but the footing was treacherous. Forget about trying to cross below the bridge. The best bet is to wait for the melt, which should not be long.

Thanks for the great report. Visiting in about 10 days and hoping to do this. Hopefully I can make it up to the peak?

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
