Took my 10 year old and 6 year old to this hike even though it was 8 miles roundtrip. The trail was flat most of the way with some river crossings on logs. The trail condition was good with only some muddy areas in the 1st mile. There was a detour due to the flood a few years ago that washed away part of the trail. We were advised by others to adhere to the major trail and not take the alternate trail since that was more strenuous.

Lots of wild flowers blooming along the way. No ripe berries yet.

There were mile markers on the tress which helped us figured out how far we needed to go before reaching the town.

We met numerous people with mountain bikes cruising along, and a family with a stroller!

Red Top Lookout

Snoqualmie Pass

Whether you're camping near Cle Elum or just want a prime picnic location for a short Saturday hike, you'll only have to climb a mile on this steep, easy-to-follow trail to get stunning views from a fire lookout (and cool alpine outhouse). It can be great for kids, but keep them close on the exposed summit.
