- Why You Should Go Now
- Wildflowers blooming
This trail starts behind Longmire and is a pleasant uphill walk through old growth forest for the first two miles. The last mile+ breaks out into steep meadows mixed with forest and is definitely a lot steeper. there are a couple of smallish patches of snow on the trail. The meadows are just breaking into bloom with all our favorite flowers and so nice to see. Must be summer! We topped out on a ridge below Eagle Peak with terrific views of Mt. Rainier and the Tattoosh range. We even saw the first mountain goat of the year. There were a good number of people on the trail for a Tuesday, so I imagine this can get pretty crowded on weekends. A great hike!
