Lots of snow on trail immediately after leaving the trailhead. I hadn't done this hike before so I looked for footprints in the snow and made my way to the peak. Saw two goats at the top and stellar scenery in all directions. A great hike that will be even better when I can follow the trail.

Dog Mountain (May 23)

Dog Mountain

South Cascades

Head to Dog Mountain for Columbia River Gorge views and an explosion of wildflowers. Eager to get in shape for summer? Head straight up the mountain on the northern side. Take the slow and steady eastern flank trail to stop and smell the flowers. (See if you can spot recent work by WTA trail crews.)
