If you want solitude on this hike start early. We began hiking at 8:30 am with only one group a head of us. Pretty quiet all the way up. A nice easy hike for an overcast morning. The rocks and the roots, as mentioned in other trail reports, keep you on your toes and alert. A few muddy spots where the trail levels out but not too bad. Beautiful, big trees, line the trail. The lake itself is beautiful and crystal clear. The path around it pretty much snow free, only one spot left to crunch over the snow.
On our return trip we met many families heading up with fishing poles. Hope the fish are biting today. I know the mosquitoes were. Don't forget your bug spray.
All in all a pleasant morning. Great forest, beautiful lake, wild flowers. Can't ask for much more.
